The Story Strumpets Podcast was created by Erin O’Loughlin, Sharon Mertins and Dunja Medakovic, but the circle extends much further than that. We are a network of writers and artists, mostly based in Berlin, who share a passion for exploring the craft of writing.
It all started in a small dusty bookshop in Berlin. We submitted stories for feedback in class. We laughed and drank, we talked and wrote and, at the end of each 7-week course, we celebrated by reading our stories out loud. As this network of writers grew and our work started finding its place in journals around the world, we continued meeting up and sharing our experiences. The podcast came about as an idea to continue expanding this circle and as a platform to explore the process of writing and its challenges further.
The podcast is now hosted by Erin and Sharon. Every month we invite one of our writer friends and pick a new short story —submitted by you— to nit pick, improve and polish so it can go out into the world in its very best shape. It’s just like a literary workshop group, but from the comfort of your own living room (or bathtub, or wherever you like to listen to podcasts, we’re not judging you).
